We meet you inside the terminal, load skis and boards into a vehicle chosen for the equipment you actually carry, and drive to the chalet or hotel door wherever the access lane allows.
Mira Azur operates its own fleet and employs its own chauffeurs, from Nice Airport to the door in Courchevel. Your booking is never passed to a subcontractor. Most companies ranking for this transfer are brokers: they take the booking and resell it to a local firm you have no contract with, which is why the vehicle and driver that arrive are often not the ones you were shown. With us the car at Terminal 2 is ours, the chauffeur is on our payroll, and one company is accountable for all 515 km.
Nice Airport to Courchevel is 513 to 516 km. In normal conditions it takes 5 hours 30 minutes to 6 hours door to door including one comfort stop, and up to 7 hours in snowfall or during peak Saturday traffic in the Tarentaise valley. Anyone quoting three or four hours has not driven it. The drive leaves Nice on the A8 westbound, passes Aix-en-Provence, turns north on the A51 towards Grenoble, then runs through Chambéry to Albertville and up the RN90 into the Tarentaise as far as Moûtiers. The final 20 km from Moûtiers climbs about 1,400 m on hairpin bends and takes roughly 45 minutes in winter on its own.

Courchevel is four villages on the same mountainside. Courchevel 1850 is the top station with the Jardin Alpin, Rue du Rocher and the palace hotels. Moriond (1650) is the sunniest level and popular with families. Village (1550) has direct Three Valleys lift access and narrower lanes. Le Praz (1300) is the original village and the quickest to reach in bad weather. We drive to the chalet or hotel door wherever the lane is passable, not to a car park at the resort entrance.
A Mercedes E-Class carries 2 large suitcases plus 2 cabin bags, or 2 suitcases plus 2 pairs of skis in soft bags. A premium 4MATIC SUV carries 4 large suitcases plus 4 pairs of skis or 3 snowboards with boot bags. A Mercedes V-Class carries 7 large suitcases plus 7 pairs of skis or 6 boards with boot bags and seven passengers aboard. Hard ski cases take more room than soft bags, so we move a party of four up to the V-Class rather than leave a bag at the airport. Larger groups travel in convoy with one chauffeur coordinating.
Every vehicle on this route runs winter tyres and carries snow chains, as required in the mountain communes of Savoie from 1 November to 31 March, and chauffeurs fit chains at the roadside when the ascent from Moûtiers demands it. Before departure we check the Bison Futé traffic forecast, the Savoie road bulletin and the Météo-France snow bulletin, and we track your flight from take-off so the pickup follows the aircraft rather than the timetable.
The train to Moûtiers from Nice means at least one change, usually via Marseille or Lyon, plus a resort taxi for the last 20 km; cheaper for one or two travellers, harder with ski bags and children. A self-drive hire car is often cheapest for a full week and leaves you a car in resort, but you accept the mountain-equipment obligation, must verify winter tyres and chains, and drive the hairpins after a flight. Courchevel Altiport at 2,008 m is the fastest option of all, but it is weather-dependent, restricted to pilots certified for its steep runway, and priced accordingly.
Almost every chalet in the Tarentaise changes hands on a Saturday, so the two-lane RN90 carries tens of thousands of vehicles down in the morning and up in the afternoon. On the classified black Saturdays of the French school holidays this can add two to three hours between Albertville, Moûtiers and the resort. We plan around it with an early departure or a later slot, and for the return we work backwards from your flight with the descent and the congestion already built into the pickup time, confirmed with you the day before.
