How to reach Saint-Tropez from Nice, the airport and Cannes
Saint-Tropez has no railway station. The nearest mainline stops are Saint-Raphaël-Valescure, roughly 38 km away, and Les Arcs–Draguignan, roughly 42 km away, and from either one you still need a bus, a taxi or a private car to finish the journey.
By bus, Zou! line 876 links Saint-Raphaël to Saint-Tropez in about 1h15 to 2 hours depending on traffic, at the regional flat fare of 3 €. Lines 878 and 879 connect Toulon and the Gulf villages. The fares are unbeatable, but the buses follow a timetable, fill up in summer and are awkward with several suitcases.
By sea, Les Bateaux Verts shuttle across the gulf from Sainte-Maxime in about 15 minutes, around 9 € one way and 16 € return, running year-round. In season, from mid-May to late October, Trans Côte d’Azur sails from Cannes in roughly 1h15 and from Nice in about 2h30, sold as a return excursion. Boats are weather-dependent and land you at the port, not at your villa.
By road it is about 106 km from Nice Airport, normally 1h30 to 2 hours on the A8. In July and August the approach roads and the D98A onto the peninsula can stretch that beyond three hours, and village parking (Parking du Port, Place des Lices) fills early — before 8:30 in the morning on market days, Tuesday and Saturday.
